Home Sweet San Diego/Coronado

27 09 2009

That’s my view everyday from my home in Coronado.  I’m so glad to be back … there aren’t enough words to describe how happy I am – now.  So, I’ve been taking pixtures and so, here they are … views from Coronado & San Diego since my move here recently.  :)

The BEST burger in the ENTIRE WORLD! :-)

The most recognisable landmark in Coronado is the Del … it’s a beautiful resort!

Hillcrest … the LGBT District in San Diego … it’s sad that Hamburger Mary’s didn’t last! :(   I always had fun there when I lived here prior!

That’s it for now … Miguel & I have a great afternoon/evening planned and now it’s off to play with Nica & Willie Juan @ the park! :)

And here he is … Prince William Juan McCleoud a/k/a ”Willie Juan” – the newest addition to the family!

Hugs,

Bryce

” … Then I am still and wait here in the silence – until you come and site a while with me.  You raise me up – so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up – to walk on stormy seas, I am strong when I am on your shoulders, you raise me up to more than I can be … “

AbFab’s Bubble on the New Year

25 07 2009

I, too, command the wind, Sir…

25 07 2009

Wow, what a week … I’m going have my two-cents worth over the entire “Harvardgate” issue  … yes, refer to the 18 July blog … add one more “I’m Over” to my column.

>:/ I’m OVER the race card being thrown at will.  Just because I’m white doesn’t mean I’m not colourblind.  What I am is someone who sees that entire tirade for what it is … a supposedly respectable Harvard professor - who just happens to be black – refusing to show his ID to a police officer – who happened to be white – that would have ended the entire ‘misunderstanding’ caused by a neighbour who rang the police.  For someone who has been called a respected scholar, Mr Gates acted disrespectably and blatantly threw his race card into play.  Then Mr Obama added his two cents worth … and now, Mr Obama wants the two parties involved to come to the White House for a tea party and make up.  I’ve three words – “No, thank you.”  If anyone owes an apology – it’s Mr Gates.  End of story.

On a side note, glad to see the US Congress – including many Democrats – are refusing to take part in the “free” universal health care plan/agenda that Mr Obama has tried to shove down the throats of the members of Congress.  As I’ve said all along — read it before you agree to it.  NOTHING IS FREE.  The cost of the “free” health care for all would be added to the tax base.  Just look at the tax base in Australia, the UK & Canada … you pay for the health care and not just with your tax dollars.  You pay with your health because of the length of time it takes to receive services for serious illnesses.  DO YOUR RESEARCH.

My week went well … just tired of the 10-hour days, but this is the last week for those!  So, I’m ever so thankful that I’ll be back on a Mon-Fri schedule 8.00 – 4.45!  I bought Coraline – the storyline was okay … I liked the animation the most and the 3-D version is pretty cool — actually!  I re-watched Elizabeth – The Golden Age last night as well.  My favourite part is when Elizabeth basically tells the Spanish Ambassador to tuck his tail between his legs and head home …

“Tell Philip – I fear neither him nor his priests nor his armies.  Tell him if he wants to shake his little fist at us, we’re ready to give him such a bite, he’ll wish he’d kept his little hands in his pockets. [ You see a leaf fall and you think you know which way the wind blows.  Well, there's a wind coming - Madame - that will sweep away your pride ].  I, too, command the wind, Sir – I have a hurricane in me that will strip Spain bare if you dare to try me!”

Any Torchwood fans out there still in shock over Ianto’s death … I think Russell T Davies has made a big mistake – HUGE – with killing off Ianto … we had to deal with the heart-wrenching deaths of Toshiko and Owen last Spring and now Ianto?  Frankly, I don’t give a damn about his “great plot” anymore and think I’m done with with the show forever.  He better not fuck up Doctor Who now … as for my summer telly — I’m loving The Closer, Leverage, Raising the Bar, The Real World: Cancun and now, I’ve discovered Burn NoticeThe Fashion Show ended with Anna receiving 56% of the vote, but Daniella did win the judges prize and is going to be introduced to a couple of very respected designers – that’s bigger than the $125K Anna got.

I’ve nothing against Anna – but Daniella deserved to win.  And James Paul — he’s a nice kid, but perhaps he should design clothes for the parallel universe because I don’t see, get or understand his concepts in fashion.  When is there going to be a fashion show that deals with men’s clothing??  Give me some Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole and Dolce&Gabana wannabe designers … I’m all about that!

Everyone have a great weekend … do something nice for yourself, someone else and always be colourblind – because that’s what will help heal the centuries of pain inflicted by many upon those perceived to be less than they actually are.

Much ‘bettah’

19 07 2009

Yeah … so – yesterdays post — I wasn’t angry when I wrote it, I was just over a bunch of things and yes, I still am.  I was irritated … but I’m much better now.  :)   Was just checking in since several people had posted me emails checking on me … really, I’m okay! :)   I’m sad that the weekend is coming to an end … I need to win the lottery so I don’t have to work for anyone else but myself! ;-)   Okay … so, I must go now. Literally or I’ll miss my flight!

And for the record, I’m OVER those people, too.

18 07 2009

Word of the day: OVER.  This post is all over the road … like Ted Kennedy after a good party. Buckle-up and hold on!

I am OVER hearing about how great Mr Obama’s health care plan is for the US … why don’t you all ask average-to-middle-class Canadians what they think about government run/controlled health care … I am seriously OVERwhelmed by all of the hype Obama supporters continue to generate about all of his programmes.  Are they really that ignorant about his socialist approach …  this is the first time in the history of this country that the goverment owns/controls banks, mortgage companies, General Motors (GM) and now Mr Obama’s plan for universal health care wouldn’t be universal at ALL.

As bad as the last administration was … the current administration is even worse on so many levels.  I am OVER how the middle class is being/has been damaged by the current administration. I said it during the campaign when I was supporting and campaigning for Hillary Clinton … the middle class is what holds the states together.  When the middle class is gone … you’re looking at the complete and absolute failure of the United States of America.

I am OVER what Mr Obama calls ‘damage control’ in his world-wide tour offering apologies for what the Bush Administration did is nothing more than destroying the very backbone of the US and it’s putting this nation in even further isolation.  Make no mistake about Mr Obama’s current agenda … it would bring the US down to her knees and leave her in absolute tatters.

I am OVER what Mr Obama did to the GLBT community and for the record the GLBT (LGBT) community still has not rallied back around Mr Obama since his Justice Department submitted the DOMA defence brief.  How many other groups in the states will be pushed to the side to forward his agenda?  So far, he’s stumbled over many campaign promises and I just don’t see him delivering on any promises he made.  Research all the promises he made the good (foolish) people of Illinois during his run for the state Senate.  Why didn’t people do their research instead of listening to the pro-Obama media albeit FOX News?

I’m OVER the staunch, misinformed & ignorant supporters of Mr Obama … Is it me or are there still millions of Obama-mites waiting for their great payday to come to the rescue?  I’ve heard people in various places around the states talking about how everything was going to be better for them and their families once Mr Obama got into the White House because he was going to take care of it all.  Like he was going to personally write checks to EVERYONE that voted for him.  Guess what they’re still waiting.  Many of them have lost their jobs since Mr Obama was sworn in … that’s what has happened  and now their families are worse off than they were prior to 20 January 2009.

I’m OVER people losing their jobs – look at the jobs lost when Mr Obama and his new government took over GM — tens of thousands lost their jobs because of the takeover. Unemployment has climbed even higher … the stimulus money isn’t stimulating anything the way Mr Obama and his PR machine have said it would.  As my good friend Shari said to me, “Why didn’t they give the taxpayers the stimulus money?  If they would have given the taxpayers $15,000 to $20,000 perhaps the economy would begin to do the turnaround they think it should be doing.  Instead Obama gives people $250 – 600 and expects that money to stimulate the economy. What a joke.”

Had I received $20,000 … I would have paid off my debt and purchased another home.  By paying off my debt (it would have helped alleviate some of the credit anxiety in the US), I would have put about $515 into my pocket that could be spent locally instead of being paid out every single month.  By purchasing another home,  I would contribute to the welfare of the county in which I live by paying property taxes and keep an insurance agent in business by paying homeowners.  People are too debt-ridden to stimulate the economy Mr Obama.  Perhaps there would have been many that would blow the cash; however, the majority of Americans would have used it wisely to pull themselves completely or close to being out of debt.

Nothing much happened this week … just working and trying to make it to 31 July when my work schedule returns to normal … how sad is it that public servants (schools, fire departments, police departments, etc.) are having to take the brunt of cutbacks instead of pork projects?  I still find it amazing that people think teachers, police officers, firefighters and paramedics are overpaid.  What the average citizens don’t realise is that teachers are paid 10 months out of every year … police officers, firefighters and paramedics put their lives on the LINE every single time they put on their uniforms.  It’s easy for Joe Public to criticise public servants without ever having walked in their shoes.  And for the record, I’m OVER those people, too.

Here’s to hoping something good happens to the middle-class sometime soon before we go down like the Titanic.

Livin’ La Vida Loca

10 07 2009

Adam Bouska, a brilliant photographer, has helped co-found the NO H8 Campaign to help repeal Proposition 8 in California — the anti-gay legislation voted into “law” by the people of California and spearheaded by many religious groups with the Mormon [Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints] cultists paving the way with their HUGE donations to support, propogate and initiate hate.  Don’t even get me started about the Mormons … I align them with the likes of Scientology (their based in Clearwater – about 25 minutes from where I live in Tampa).

Anyway, Adam has photographed a huge number of people — with a good number of music and movie celebrities lending their support against Prop 8 … like Pete Wentz to the left.  I never really knew just how HOT this man was until I saw this picture … his eyes alone drive me INSANE and combine it with tattoos — and DAMN!  You can learn more and see more photographs by going to the NO H8 Campaign site.

As I mentioned at last weekend, I really try to update my journal more than just a couple of times during the week, but with my 10-hour workdays — I’m just not successful. :(   However, this current schedule ends on 31 July! :-)   So, I’ll be back to a normal 8.00 – 4.45 day – FINALLY!  My knee is still not any better … it’s still swollen — it’s not infected, there’s no fluid, the cartlidge and ligaments are fine … the kneecap is okay … they don’t believe it’s arthritis — they just think that I twisted it somehow and it’s just irritated.  So, I’m doing the ice packs and ibuprofren (because I didn’t want any anti-inflammatory meds).  I’m over the lack of flexibility I have with it right now … it’s somewhat limiting things I want to do — like workout, for instance.

So, last Saturday was an absolute blast on The Tardis (John & Jenn’s huge ass yacht) … they bought 50 lbs of chicken, a lot of ribeye steaks and beer, beer, beer and more beer for their Out on the Bay for the 4th of July celebration … their new yacht can hold 40 comfortably — there were 31 people on board.  I grilled like there was no tomorrow — it was just a great afternoon and evening — we watched the fireworks in the middle of the Tampa Bay — it was a great day all around!

So, last Sunday, albeit being worn out from everything on Saturday — I drug myself out of bed to watch Andy Roddick take on Roger Federer in the Wimbledon Men’s Championship.  First let me say, that Andy played one bloody hell of a match … only my favourite player – Rafa Nadal and Andy have been the only two to ever stretch Mr Federer out in a match like that.

Andy did blow a two sets to love lead in the second set tie-breaker, but he NEVER yielded anything in the match.  He played better last Sunday than he’s ever played in his life and he’s moving in the right direction … Mr Federer may have won the coveted 15 Grand Slam titles, but he must know that he is starting to fade … it’s only a matter of time before he begins to lose more matches with title implications at stake.

I think Andy’s new coach has done a lot with him and I cannot wait to see him at the US Open.  Of course, I’m a Rafa Nadal fan all the way, but I always cheer for Andy Roddick and of course, I cheer for anyone playing against Mr Federer. Enough said.  So, hopefully Andy has reflected on the fact that he played his best — won over the hearts of many of the English fans that day and that he is not done — just yet!  I think we’re going to see a brilliant performance from Andy in Flushing Meadows in a few weeks!

It’s been a great summer so far on the telly … I don’t watch tons of programmes, but I do have the ones I love … THE CLOSER, RAISING THE BAR, THE REAL WORLD: CANCUN and starting in the next few days LEVERAGE, TORCHWOOD and DOCTOR WHO!  I’m sooooo excited!  I’ve also been watching NYC PREP — I actually like it because the kids featured in the show are very much like UES kids … they truly are already grown up … I knew a few of the prep kids that lived in my building on the UES when I lived in NYC … I’d say most of them think they deserve everything they want (and their parents usually do just that), but there are a few that know they are blessed … so, we’ll see how that show goes.

As for THE REAL WORLD: CANCUN … if yer watching — have you figured out who’s the troublemaker?  I realised it on the first episode … I knew that Aiiyah was the troublemaker.  She’s definitely more than just a bitch … she’s several other choice words.  I’m glad that the two roomies that were part of her little gang realised the reality of the situation and backed the hell away from her … I think the guys are all pretty cool … the fact that they are comfortable with their own sexuality and would go with Derek to a gay bar speak volumes about them — at this point anyway.  Of course, I don’t get into white boys that much, but damn … CJ is hot as phuck!  The eyes and curly blonde hair … every once in a while it’s good to have a little white meat! :)

The rain has been pretty heavy here this week, but it’s been necessary … it’s ashame it doesn’t rain like this in San Diego — of course, that would then bring humidity to San Diego and that would ruin the entire purpose of me loving being there!  Speaking of trips, my dad booked my flight to London for late August … I’m excited to be going back over to see him and Logan … work was hectic this week w/ the budget crunch issues and training.  I’ll be glad when the economy can really begin to recover … if the Obama Administration would leave the Stock Market the fuck alone we’d see quicker improvements … I’m so glad I didn’t vote for him (or McCain for that matter!) … I’m sure my handwritten HILLARY CLINTON on my ballot made people laugh, but I wonder just how many ballots had her name written on them across the US?

Okay, that’s it for me … I’ve got to get a haircut before I met my friend L out for sushi at our favourite place … this will be the first time I’ve seen her since her mum passed.  I’m a little nervous … her mum was a beautiful lady and had been sick for a very, very long time.  I know that I’ll prolly cry a bit when I first see L. :(   Hope everyone’s weekend will be great!  I’m still going to try to update more frequently …

“Don’t give it up … don’t worry if the sun don’t shine … you’ve seen it before, you don’t have to worry … don’t give – you know it’s true – you gotta do what you wanna do … don’t give – you don’t have to — you gotta do what you wanna do – ahhh yeah — don’t give in …”  – Bryan Adams

Way too cute … this made me smile!  In fact, everyone’s going crazy over it on The Tardis. :)

Also, congratulations to Serena Williams for winning the Wimbledon Ladies Single Crown this morning … now, it’s time for Andy Roddick to overcome his arch rival and bring the Wimbledon title back to the states … I hope that Rafa will be ready for the US Open!

Everyone play safe today … I’ll update more, but we’re cruising on the intercoastal waterway now!
